From Unhappy Endings to Post Rut Clarity. It's over. He's gone. She's left. The business has been wound up. Something you cared about has come to an end, far earlier than you would have hoped, and far more finally than you are yet to accept. You're searching for sense, understanding of how you got here - trying to pinpoint what was the iceberg that sank the ship. Alternating between pointing the finger externally and then internally, as there must be someone to blame. Ignorance is not bliss. There is a temptation to judge a matter by its end, as though the entirety of an event can be properly summed up by its eventual failure. Furthermore we have a tendency to look at the preceding events to search for 'red- flags'. Perhaps failure was inevitable? The signs were always there and any energy used to avoid it were wasted misadventures in futility. This thinking can be helpful in minimising the sting of an outcome, however just as the ironically rose tinted lenses can have us fantasying on a past that was not actually so fantastic, misappropriating the past limits our opportunity to learn in response to key and self analytical questions. What were the positives? What are the things we could be proud of and what were the skills and experienced we used to get it to a place of significance. Understanding what you have achieved is what will allow the nutrients of an experience to stay with you and propel you forward with confidence and refined expertise. Similarly, holding your self to account is important. For what didn't go well, what can you learn from it. What would you do different? Was it something actually in your control and was there anything you realistically could have done to mitigate or be more resilient? Ultimately you want to tune your mind to be ready to go again. Perhaps you have outgrown the event and want to do something bigger, better or just different. The skill then is to determine which lessons still apply. And why are you better equipped to tackle the new enterprise now than you would have been before starting the old one. Once you have equipped those lessons you can empty the cache and be ready to start again.

Shattered Dreams: A Pro-Ex Founders Experience. I curled into my desk, until my forehead pressed against my arm. Yet failed to muzzle a salient shriek which forcefully escaped my lips. It originated from the depths of despair; pained emotion coursing through my vocal cords, painting the room in hues of melancholy blue. The sound shocked me. Its agony hung in the air, an unintended confession to the inspectors. The fight within me had gone. As little as I agreed with their words, and as much as I saw through their charade of professionalism. My overwhelming feeling was of embarrassment. Whilst my squeal had exposed the inspections teams turmoil, - their expressions revealed panic, guilt and forced stoicism - it also exposed a burning truth. They had broken me. And now, we all knew it. I lifted my head, apologised, and insisted the torture continue... Years of experience and achievement crumbled at the whim of an inspection shaped by a week's few variables. ...The impact is indescribable—the crisis of confidence, loss of appetite, isolation, denial, judgment, shame, and guilt. Yet in the aftermath, we find ourselves standing at the crossroads of experience and resilience. We've all invested time, energy, and passion into pursuits we believed defined us—be it in the professional arena or personal endeavours. Many of us have seen the fruits of our labour crumble, facing the unjust sting of loss. This shared experience transcends fields, resonating with anyone who has seen their hard-earned successes stripped away. It's a stark reminder that life's journey is unpredictable, and the true test lies not in avoiding setbacks, but in how we rise from the ashes, determined to forge new paths and discover unforeseen triumphs.
